Degree

Basic B.Sc. Nursing

A professional undergraduate degree governed by INC guidelines, focusing on advanced clinical skills and theoretical knowledge.

Academic Requirements:
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Compulsory subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB), along with English.
  • A minimum aggregate of 45% marks in PCB is required (40% for SC/ST/OBC categories as per government norms).
  • English must be passed as a core/optional/elective subject.
Age Criteria:
  • Minimum 17 years as on 31st Dec 2025.
  • There is no upper age limit as per latest INC guidelines, though some institutions may have internal policies.
Program Duration:
  • Total Duration: 4 Years (8 semesters)

HSLIBNET Fee: University has started Health Sciences Library Network (HSLIBNET) to provide access to eresources to the students of all colleges affiliated with the University for which one time fee Rs. 3000/- or as amended from time to time will be charged from all students who got admission in Post Basic B.Sc.Nursing Course. HSLIBNET fee will be collected alongwith the tuition fee from students at the time of admission.

Post-Diploma

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing

Designed for GNM qualified nurses to upgrade their academic and supervisory competencies.

Eligibility:
  • Passed the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the university for this purpose. Those who have done 10+1 in or before 1986, will be eligible for admission.
  • Obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurses Registration Council. A male nurse, trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides being registered as a nurse with State Nurses Registration Council, shall produce evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the following areas:
    • Ophthalmic Nursing
    • Psychiatric Nursing
    • Cancer Nursing
    • Pediatric Nursing
    • Neonatal Nursing
    • Cardiac Nursing
    • Critical Care Nursing
    • Emergency Nursing
  • Students shall be admitted once in a year.

Medical Requirement: Candidate must be medically fit with certificate from MBBS/MD/MS practitioner.

Diploma

GNM & ANM

Diploma programs designed to prepare students for professional nursing roles in community health settings.

Eligibility (Common for GNM & ANM):
  • 10+2 with English and minimum 40% marks from a recognized board.
  • Accepted boards include State Open School and NIOS.
  • 10+2 with 40% in Vocational ANM / Health Care Science stream is also eligible.
  • Registered ANM candidates are also eligible.
  • SC/ST candidates: 5% relaxation in marks.
Age Criteria:
  • Minimum 17 years as on 31st Dec 2025.
  • No age bar for ANM-to-GNM promotee candidates.
Residence Preference:
  • Punjab domicile preferred.
  • Criteria includes:
    • Born in Punjab OR
    • Studied 10+1 and 10+2 in Punjab OR
    • Permanent resident of Punjab
Foreign Nationals:
  • The entry qualification equivalence i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The concerned institution and Punjab Nurses Registration Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above

Medical Requirement: Candidate must be medically fit with certificate from MBBS/MD/MS practitioner.

English: Must be a passed subject in 10+2.

GNM Duration: 3 Years

ANM Duration: 2 Years (18 months + 6 months internship)
